Biography
Born on Jan. 8, 1962 in the settlement of Kholmsky (Abinsk district of the Krasnodar Region). In 1984 he graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Soviet Trade, in 2001 – the Saint Petersburg State University. Economist and lawyer.
In 1984-1985 served in the Armed Forces of the USSR.
From 2000 to 2004 – Deputy Chief of the Inspection, Deputy Chief, Chief of the Administration on working with the largest taxpayers in St. Petersburg of the Ministry for Taxes and Levies of the Russian Federation.
In 2004 – Deputy Minister, Acting Minister for Taxes and Levies of the Russian Federation.
In 2004-2007 – Head of the Federal Tax Service.
Since February 15, 2007 – Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation.
On May 12, 2008 in connection with formation of a new Government of the Russian Federation appointed Minister of Defence again.
Doctor of Economic Sciences.
Class I Active State Advisor of the Russian Federation.
