Baltic Fleet

The Baltic Fleet is an operational-strategic association of the Navy of Russia in the Baltic Sea.
The main stationing sites are Baltiysk (Kaliningrad Region) and Kronstadt (Leningrad Region). The Fleet’s composition includes the surface ship division, the brigade of diesel submarines, the formation of auxiliary and rescue ships, the naval aviation, the coastal defence troops, the logistical units of technical and specialized support.
The main tasks of the Baltic Fleet of Russia at present are as follows:
• Protection of the economic zone and areas of productive activities, suppression of illegal productive activities;
• Ensuring safety of navigation;
• Implementation of foreign policy actions of the Government in economically important areas of the World ocean (visits, routine entries, joint exercises, and action in the composition of peacekeeping forces, etc.
