Commander of the Strategic Missile Forces, Lieutenant-General

Biography

Sergey Viktorovich Karakayev was born on June 4, 1961 in the village of Ivano-Slyusarevka of the Krasnodar Territory.

He graduated from the Rostov Higher Military Command-Engineering School (1983), the command faculty of the Military Academy named after F.E. Dzerzhinsky (1994), North-Western Academy of Civil Service (by correspondence, in 2004). In 2009 he graduated with honours from the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces.

Consistently held in all army command-and-staff positions from group engineer to commander of missile large unit.

He headed a direction of the Main Personnel Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation. In the years of 2006-2008 commanded the Vladimir missile large unit.

In October 2009 was appointed as Chief of Staff / First Deputy Commander of the Strategic Missile Forces.

The Decree of the RF President of June 22, 2010 appointed him as the Commander of the Strategic Missile Forces.

Decorated with the Order of Military Merit and a number of Medals.

Candidate of Military Sciences.
