Arkady Bakhin
Commander of the Western Military District, Lieutenant-GeneralBiography
Arkady Viktorovich Bakhin was born on May 8, 1956 in the city of Kaunas of the Lithuanian SSR (now the Lithuanian Republic).
In 1977 he graduated from the Moscow Higher Combined-Arms School. Served as the commander of platoon, company, chief of headquarters / commander of battalion of the Southern Group of Troops and the Kiev Military District.
After graduating from the Military Academy named after M.V. Frunze In 1987 he served in the Central Asian Military District as the commander of rifle motorized battalion, chief of headquarters / commander of training rifle motorized regiment.
From 1992 to 1995 he served as the commander of rifle motorized regiment and the commander of rifle motorized brigade in the Siberian Military District.
After graduating from the Military Academy the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia in 1997 he was the commander of Russian military base in the Transcaucasia, the commander of rifle motorized division in the North-Caucasian Military District, the Chief of Staff / First Deputy Commander of the Group of Russian Forces in Transcaucasia. From 2002 to 2004 – the Deputy Commander of the North-Caucasian Military District.
From 2004 – the Commander of the Combined-Arms Army in the Siberian Military District, and from January 2006 – the Deputy Commander of the Siberian Military District. From July 2007– the Chief of Staff / First Deputy Commander of the Siberian Military District.
The Decree of the RF President of December 3, 2008 appointed him as the Commander of the Volga-Urals Military District.
Since July 2010 – the Acting Commander of the Western Military District.
The Decree of the RF President of October 28, 2010 was appointed as the Commander of the Western Military District.
Awarded the Orders of Courage, «For Military Merits», «For Merits to the Fatherland» as well as a number of Medals.
